Who did the $50 million diamond of Pink Legacy belong to?

At Christie’s auction house in Geneva this week, there was a $50 million diamond deal of Pink Legacy, which is around 50,375,000 Swiss Francs. This has raised a lot of surprise among people recently.

About the luxury diamond

According to the Gemological Institute of America ( GIA), the rare pink diamond is 18.96 carat and contains no other colours, a classification known as “ fancy vivid”, which is the highest grade of color intensity. The designation is given to only 1 in 100,000 diamonds, making it truly rare.

This Pink Legacy diamond also gets its prowess on account of its size and clarity. Christie’s international head of jewelry Rahul Kadakia said in a statement that in order to find a diamond of this size with this colour was pretty much unreal. However, the Pink Legacy owns it, which is unbelievable.

The luxury diamond was bought by American luxury brand Harry Winston and in the future, it will be named after this brand as Winston Pink Legacy, according to Kadakia. This label believed the diamond trade was in good health so they decided to buy the luxury good without worrying about the record- busting price. It is reasonable because CEO of jewelers Le Vian said that Australia’s Argyle produced 90%  pink diamonds in the world so noone would know in five years from now how much the value of this diamond would worth.

The lastest owners of the jewel is still unknown but Christie’s revealed that Oppenheimer family, who had three generations running the De Beers diamond mining company before 2011 had owned it once.

In conclusion, the sale of luxury products like this large pink diamond attracts a lot of attention of people around the world. It may seem unreal and strange at the moment but who knows in the future, it may be normal.
