Tourism industry has brought significant benefits for the world’s economy. This non-smoke industry is a huge money-making machine of many countries. Actually, amount of people who travel and spend on travel each year in each nation is different.

According to information from the World Tourism Organization UNWTO, there were more than 1.1 billion trips abroad which have been made globally in the first 10 months of 2017. This figure is 7% higher in comparison with same period in 2016. It is estimated that by 2030, approximately 1.8 billion people worldwide will travel.

Finland is the country having largest number of people travelling over the world with an average of 7.5 trips/ person/ year. While the majority of Northern Europeans prefer to visit warm-weather places as Mediterranean, the favorite destinations of most of Finnish people are Estonia and Sweden.

America ranks second in the list with an average of 6.7 trips per year. However, American people tend to travel in their own country at holiday occasion to reunite with their families. Sweden is the third country travelling most. People here love to sunbathe and swim. More than 50% of Swedes people say that they have plan to travel more in the coming years.

Which countries spend most in travel?

Chinese tourists spend the most when travelling abroad. They spent up to $ 165 billion in 2014. The luxury market increasingly depends on Chinese shoppers. High-end retailers such as Tiffany & Co and Louis Vuitton have been recruiting Chinese-language interpreters to improve their competitiveness. According to the World Tourism Organization, this is because the average income of Chinese people is higher; therefore, the amount of money that Chinese tourists spend on travel accounts for over 13% the revenue of global tourism.

Other names in the list are the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, Canada, Italy and Brazil, which mainly in Europe and America. This is easy to understand because these are all developed countries with high living standards.

According to the United Nations, tourism can be an opportunity for economy, peace, mutual understanding but it can also be challenge for social issues such as child labor, prostitution and environment pollution. Therefore, the important factor is awareness and attitude of tourist when travelling.
