The aviation industry is becoming more aware of both travelers health and environmental safety. In fact, airlines are re-evaluating their food supply and make priority for local fresh food source and limited waste.

Singapore Airlines is the leading airline in the airline food trends focusing on airline food quality by developing in flight foods with garden fresh meals in flight which is good for travelers health and environmental safety.

Using fresh organic foods during the season is becoming more important in helping health conscious customers feel refreshed after the flight.

As part of Singapore Airlines’ healthcare initiative, Singapore Airlines announced its partnership with vertical farm company AeroFarms in September 2019. The partnership aims to launch a wellness cuisine menu included Arugula, baby bok choy and a mixture of greens grown in the AeroFarm hydroponic gardening facility. They will be featured on the in-flight menu on Singapore Airline flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport.

Previously, greens for flights out of Newark had to be imported from California, Mexico or Florida. The distance may be up to 3,000 miles. At the present, vegetables are grown just five miles from the airport and delivered to the plane within 24 hours of harvest. It’s good to be able to board the plane and enjoy the salad harvested near the departure date.

By 2020, passengers flying out of Dubai International Airport will also have garden and outdoor dining options.

Travelers are increasingly interested in fresh diet meals and good ingredients used to prepare their meals. Using fresh organic foods during the season is becoming more important in helping health-conscious customers feel refreshed after the flight. These airline food trends improve travelers health and environmental safety.
