The trends for using natural beauty products is growing because there are many people reject products containing chemicals. Besides, the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle also contributes to the trend. Nonetheless, many people feel confused about natural beauty products.

 

 

According to a study, North America and Europe account for 90% of all natural product sales. And, in terms of percentages, Asia has the fastest growing rate with India and China reporting double digit growth.

Nonetheless, the definition of natural differs by region. For instance, in North America and Asia, natural means “real ingredients”. In Europe and South America, natural means “preservative free”.

Surprisingly, sustainability is another major trend in the organic beauty industry. Neal’s Yard Remedies use anti-ageing skincare ingredients that are made from waste materials. Besides, health-conscious consumers tend to use natural and organic beauty products. Personal care products produced with natural formulations are easily recognisable on labels and they are considered more trustworthy than conventional products while organic product claims appeal to those who want to avoid chemicals. Some beauty brands that can appeal to those who are looking for natural and organic products are Urtekam, Björk & Berries and Lumene.

Nowadays, consumers will find out responsible beauty solutions. One way will be using plant-based food waste, which is rich in natural polyphenol-rich anti-oxidants, anti-ageing and antimicrobial substances. For instance, coffee grounds are reported to be effective in naturally exfoliating the skin. The absence of green materials in cosmetics will be a great method for brands to engage younger consumers and also improve their sustainability credentials.

Finally, DIY beauty products and customisation will be another method to attract more consumers in natural beauty industry. Using DIY beauty products can be the simplest step for demystifying beauty products, forcing the beauty market to become more sustainable and transparent.
