At 7.27pm  on November 15, the SpaceX company's Crew Dragon spacecraft took off with a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA.

The event marks the completion of NASA's mission to bring the crew into space using a private spacecraft.  Specifically, the Crew Dragon is the product of the high-tech rocket company SpaceX led by billionaire Elon Musk.

Earlier on August 14, NASA announced the Crew Dragon will perform the Crew-1 mission, the first official manned mission into space.  Participants in the mission are NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins, pilot Victor Glover, expert Shannon Walker and astronaut from Japan Space Agency (JAXA) Soichi Noguchi.

Crew Dragon's latest flight is a success of SpaceX's historic Demo-2 mission.  Finished in early August, Demo-2 was the first test flight of a private company to put people into orbit.

During this flight, two NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) and returned to Earth by the Crew Dragon.  The series of events is considered a great step forward, helping the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) actively bring astronauts into space without depending on Russian spacecraft.
