Introducing Furhat, a social robot that can communicate with humans by speaking, communicating with the eyes, expressing emotions – and, if necessary, turning into a dog.

New advanced technology
At the time when fashion and beauty brands are trying to develop their own artificial intelligence experience, Furhat, created by Samir Al Moubayed, co-founder and CEO of Furhat Robotics, is the latest candidate for the most sophisticated technology released.
“Hello world. My name is Furhat and I’m a social robot. I can’t wait to see all the ways you’ll use me in society” said Furhat.
It appears with a feathered cap with a cartoon face, on the stage of VOICES, the annual gathering of BoFs for the big thinkers teamed up with QIC Global Real Estate.
Unlike Facebooks display advertising product recommendations or Amazons smart Alexa speakers, Furhat communicates by speaking, hearing, contacting with the eyes and expressing emotions by moving eyebrows, smiling or even frowning when angry.
Furhat can teach 40 languages, monitor health status or help someone find their way to the airport. In stores, Furhat can talk to customers about the type of product they want to buy and make suggestions.
“There was a diversity problem in robots. We realized you’re building a piece of hardware that looks exactly the same for whoever is using it. You can’t change it’s age, gender or ethnicity, and we think that’s a huge barrier for people to start to explore. Humans seem to be really interested in building a robot that looks like us — and we haven’t really thought about why that’s the case. One way is to look at it as a new user interface. What makes a social robot special is that it’s in our own image. We spend most of our life looking at other people’s faces. Our face tells us a huge story.” Moubayed said.
This social robot will be one of the most anticipated products in the future. Right? Give wait for the interaction with it.
