Prenatal preparation

March 05, 2020

Before a baby arrives, there are a lot of things for parents to prepare. Here we have a list of things you need for a new baby.

As you just cannot predict when you will give birth, preparation before giving birth is needed so that you can welcome your baby anytime without being overwhelming. Don’t wait for the date near the predicted due date to purchase things for the baby, what if your baby comes earlier than a prediction?

For breastfeeding, no is required. However, for some mothers, careful preparation of things to prepare before giving birth is a must. They often purchase the items for feeding: bibs, burp cloths, breast pump, milk storage containers, nursing pillow, nursing bras, breast pads, lotion for sore nipples. For some formula-feeding mothers, buying things like bibs, burp cloths, 8 four-ounce Playtex baby bottles with nipples, 6 eight-ounce Playtex baby bottles with nipples, bottle and nipple brush, formula and thermal bottle carrier, is one of the very first things to do.

You need to determine whether to use reusable cloth diapers or disposable diapers before purchasing important things to do before having a baby. For both types, Playtex baby diaper genie and changing pad are vital. Besides, don’t forget to buy baby ointment or barrier cream to prevent rash for the newborn.
If you use reusable cloth diapers, you should prepare several dozen of cloth diapers, 8 waterproof covers (to keep your bed clean), snaps and velcro or other available types of safety pins (to secure re-usable diapers), disposable wipes.
For disposable diapers, buy about two or three boxes of diapers (of course, you should buy newborn size for your baby and do not buy too many for storage as you baby could grow up quickly) and disposable wipes (some washcloths to clean the newborn’s bottom are fine).

Clothes may be the most essential things a newborn baby needs. You should buy 8 undershirts or onesies, 5 nightgowns, 8 one-piece stretchy sleepers, 5 pairs of pants, 2 hats, 8 pairs of socks or booties, 2 pairs of scratch mittens, 2 cardigans or jackets, laundry detergent for infants, 3 large cotton blankets, 8 receiving blankets.

Bedtime and bathtime

The list of things you need for a new baby will continue with things needed to bathtime. You might need a new plastic infant tub, 12 washcloths, baby soap, baby hairbrush and 3 soft-hooded towels. One note is that you should buy these things from a reputable manufacturer so to avoid diseases.
For bedtime, using a crib is recommended because it is safer for the baby. If you use a crib, prepare approved crib and crib mattress, 3 waterproof mattress covers, 4 fitted crib sheets, 4 light blankets fit in the crib.

Signs the baby is coming

To ensure the safety of you and the baby, keep in mind signs baby is coming before the due date. The signs may differ from each woman. However, here are the most common signs you are ready to give birth:

– The baby drops: A woman may feel that the baby drops to a lower position. This is known as “lightening”.

– Strong and regular contractions: Uterine contractions move the baby down into a lower position. This is one of the most common ready to give birth symptoms.

– Lower back pain and cramping: Increasing pressure on the lower back leads to ache.

– Bloody vaginal discharge

– Diarrhea or nausea

There are many things to do to prepare for baby. Proper preparation will help you welcome your baby in an easy way.
