How to use retinol for beginners

For beginners, retinol may sound scary, especially when they hear stories about how well-known ingredients can cause unpleasant side effects like dryness, sensitivity, and peeling.

There are 3 tips to use retinol for people who are beginners: 

#1: Slow and steady wins the race: For the first one to two weeks, apply your retinol two nights a week, but never return to the evening. In weeks three and four, increase to use it three nights a week. Over the five and six weeks, start alternating every night. And finally, in weeks seven and eight, you can increase your nightly usage.

#2: Wait for your skin to dry with a serum: Even if you use serum or face cream with retinol, wait for your skin to dry completely after cleansing and allow your other products to absorb before applying. Otherwise, moisture can pull retinol into your skin, speed up its absorption, and potentially lead to unwanted side effects.

#3: Good upper layer to protect skin: Use a moisturizer with skin-restoring ingredients like ceramides, sphingolipids, and phospholipids to help support your skin barrier. Doing so prevents moisture from escaping your skin, so your skin is always soft, supple, and hydrated while taking retinol.
