Luxury fashion industry is focusing on mental health

The luxury giant Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH), which owns many of the biggest luxury fashion brands in the world, just catching with mental health fashion trend by investing in a mental health focused fashion brand called Madhappy.

Fashion and mental health

Overall, Madhappy is not the same as any other brand that Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy previously owned. This fashion brand was established about two years ago. It was founded by four friends in Los Angeles.

Their goal is to create street outfits focused on optimism. The brand said that it is on a mission to turn the world into a more optimistic place by creating conversation around mental health.

Madhappy’s investors include Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy and the founders of Sweetgreen. Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy is the largest investor with an investment of $1.5 million.

Madhappy creates street staples at a higher price. For example, a hoodie costs $160, tight-fitting pants cost $40, and the T-shirts cost $70. Many traditional streetwear brands are targeting on male customers. However, Madhappy‘s customers are both male and female. And Madhappy’s products have been of interest to many people, among them celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Steph Curry, Katy Perry and Cardi B.

In general, the luxury fashion industry is becoming more wellness. Luxury giant like LVMH is catching with mental health fashion trend by investing in an inclusive brand which give a platform to conversation around mental health. The message seems to resonate with young people and LVMH seems to guess that this is the brand that their next generation of luxury consumers are looking for.
