LOreals Modiface opens the virtual reality era in beauty industry with the launch of the Virtual Nail Salon app

December 14, 2018

With this great point, AR is now available in almost all hi-tech industries such as the entertainment and film industries. However, with the beauty industry, what could this technology do? Lets take a look at the article below to see how LOreal started with AR.

What exactly can the augmented reality (AR) do in beauty industry?

ModiFace is a technology company founded by face recognition expert Dr. Parham Aarabi. This is the company that invented and developed the AR technology as well as Artificial intelligence (AI) and they already have some AR products related to human health and beauty as products of skin health assessment and some other makeup products. This technology allows users to visualize exactly how they would look if they applied the options and products included in the AR application.

With this great potential, LOreal made a bold move to buy this AR technology company, to collaborate on the development. And by this year, LOreal and ModiFace have put in place a new milestone for the beauty industry by launching the Virtual Nail Salon. An AR application designed specifically for the iPhone that can scan the users fingernails and hands, thereby producing a virtual arm. This allows users to see how their hands and nails would look if they applied beauty products from LOreal. With the product inventory is constantly updated, estimated to have more than 10,000 examples of the product has been updated successfully. This application is considered as the premise for the next steps of development between ModiFace and Facebook in the future, widely applied on many famous beauty brands such as Maybelline, LOréal Paris, NYX Professional Makeup, Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Urban Decay, Shu Uemura.

So sooner, these applications will appear on all websites or applications of any famous beauty brand like how it will do with LOreal, providing an opportunity to increase retail sales as well as inviting more technology partners to further and stronger development in the beauty industry.
