SK-II s Future X Smart Store – next generation of Beauty

The concept provides in-store customers with “phygital” experiences by using smart techniques including digital diagnostics and facial recognition.

About the store  concept of SK-II

The “Future X Smart Store” had been shown at the Las Vegas Show by P&G and was initially debuted in Singapore, Shanghai and Tokyo in 2018. This time, SK-II mix artificial intelligence (AI) technologies with a reading of people’s facial expressions and movements in order to give a new experience for clients. “ The Art of You” is the name of a digital wall that creates a wide range of energy lines and colours for a special artistic image for different users of the store.

The “Magic Ring” skin analysis is another revamped version of SK-II which uses an interactive screen to scan the face and see results afterwards. Furthermore, customers can add stuffs to their online carts with a wave thanks to a “Smart Beauty Bar” that gives advices as well as personalized product browsing to them.

Vice President, Global SK-II Sandeep Seth said that improving high technologies helped them challenge existing retail norms while sharing their meaningful experiences to their consumers. Instead of being watched, judged or pressured, their customers could know their skin well by experiencing their products via the Future X Smart Phone. She added that their journey might generate better shopping experience for their clients in the growing beauty industry.

To conclude, SK-II is among the beauty labels concentrating on combining innovative technologies into the in-store experience. What this Japanese brand is trying to do really puts a positive impact on the beauty market that other brands need to catch up with.
