In Buddhism, people need to understand the root causes of suffering in order to pursue happiness. Daily practice of mindful thought and action can help you find inner peace. Here are a few tips on how to gain inner peace for you.

Let go of things you don’t control

In your life, sometimes there are things that happen out of your control. For example, you make plans to go outside with friends, but it starts raining at the last minute. What would you do? Are you going to complain about your plan being ruined and be upset about it? Or are you going to smile and go for plan B? Think about this, if you complain about it, will the rain stop for you? So it is not going to accomplish anything. It is better to choose the second reaction, you can just lie in bed reading a good book or listening to the rain beating on the window. That’s how you can find peace in the soul. In any case, remember to make the most of what you control, and don’t worry about what you don’t.

Pay attention to present

What happened in the past, let it go. What is going to happen in the future, do not think too much about it. Because if you think about those things, neither can you undo things that happened or fix things that haven’t come. And thinking too much is not what’s good for inner health. Pay more attention to present, to what you need to do. If you get stuck, just walk to a window, look outside and relax your mind for a while. You can also take a single deep breath, focusing only on that breath but nothing else. This is simple, but you will be amazed at how much it can increase the peace of mind.
