The fully AI-powered toolkit including Healthcare Natural Language API and AutoML Entity Extraction for Healthcare is expected to assist health professionals in reviewing and analyzing large volumes of documents.

"We hope this technology will help reduce overwork and increase health care productivity," Google said in the official blog post.

Usually important medical knowledge is stored in unstructured digital text, ie it cannot be included in a standard database.  The COVID-19 pandemic poses a challenge for professionals in managing and interpreting large amounts of non-standard information, which is a very laborious process.

The Healthcare Natural Language API tool helps to normalize information that is different from medical industry standards and into the database.

For example, "diabetes" is often referred to by the term "diabetes mellitus".  With this new solution from Google, the same medical information will be brought back to a common standard.

Medical information technology companies can take advantage of this tool to identify information about symptoms, conditions, and prescribing drugs just through dialogue between patients and doctors.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies can increase the accuracy of patient's health indicators.  In addition, it also helps to distinguish past patient prescriptions from new prescriptions, as well as identify specific symptoms and diagnoses.

The second tool that Google released is the AutoML Entity Extraction for Healthcare.  It is a solution that expands access to artificial intelligence for all users and allows medical professionals to build their own tools to retrieve vital information from digital documents.

According to Google, researchers can establish tools to work with genetic variation and socioeconomic factors.  It will also contribute to support remote health care, drug development or clinical trials for rare diseases.

"This solution can deliver many measurable results such as reducing cumbersome tests, reducing operating costs and increasing the patient-doctor experience" said Google.

Google said that it will soon cooperate with many service providers to successfully apply these two tools.
