According to EY's analyst Michael Messerli, the increase in foreign direct investment in Switzerland in 2020 is mainly due to the increasing interest of German companies in the country, with the number of investment projects nearly doubling.  American companies remain in second place.

In contrast, interest from UK investors showed signs of abating, while investments from neighboring Italy also continued to shrink in 2020.
