Top 5 Men’s Watches at Baselworld 2019

April 05, 2019

Baselworld, Switzerlands largest watch and jewelry trade show, has witnessed a declining number of exhibitors over the years. And this year, the number of exhibitors is smaller than ever after Swatch Group (as well as a number of other brands) declares that it will no longer exhibit at this show. Swatch Group owns 18 brands of watches and jewelry, so its absence has created a significant impact.

There is no shortage of watch models to be expected

Although the shows weak attendance and production in the Swiss watch industry moves slowly, there are still a few stars of the show worth emphasizing. Now we will go deeper into the 5 best men’s watches at Baselworld 2019 that you should keep an eye on or scramble to wear on your wrists.

1. Greubel Forsey GMT Quadruple Tourbillon

Ph. Greubel Forsey

This year, Greubel Forsey brought his GMT to a new level with the tourbillon quadrupling. Since the launch of the 30 ° Double Tourbillon with its first watch in 2004, the company has taken a bit of a task to constantly imagine the tourbillon (the next Quadruple Tourbillon in 2005 and Tourbillon 23 seconds in 2006). This year, they unified the craftsmanship of the GMT clock with the ability to host tourbillon in the new GMT Quadruple Tourbillon.

2. Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu II

Ph: Hublot

Ending with the time adjustment and engraving of the bold Hublot on the dial, Big Bang Sang Bleu II is some of Hublots most complex and artistic works up to date. It will be released at Hublot stores worldwide in July 2019. A visual journey is created by the agency Sang Bleu, with world-renowned Sak Yant Thai tattoo master Ajarn Noo Kanpai.

3. Zenith El Primero Revival A386

Ph: Zenith

The new Zenith El Primero trio retails for CHF 19,900 (about $ 19,900 at the current exchange), but once they disappear and assume Zenith does not continue to update these in the coming years, these watches will be limited to 50 metals. Someday, we will see an ROI as impressive as a Ref. 16520.

4. Chopard LUC Flying T

Ph: Chopard

This was Chopards first shot with a flying tourbillon and they made sure to perform not only with the guillocho dial with the snail design around the ring and the central circle with honeycomb pattern used. The first time in 2017 on the watch. The L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer edition is also a nod to the first logo used by Louis-Ulysse Chopard – a honeycomb. The stopwatch certified movement also has a stop function and comes with the official Poinçon de Genève quality and finish certification.

5. Patek Philippe Ref. 5212A-001 Calatrava Weekly Calendar

Patek Philippe Ref. 5212A-001 Calatrava Weekly Calendar / Ph. Patek Philippe

This is the first Calatrava in steel ($ 33,454), not in a limited range, for 70 years. That and itself will be the reason for collectors who want to get their hands on this watch (and it may really be unlike other introductions of Patek Philippe). But looking more deeply into this 40 mm x 10.7 mm watch shows that it has a new self-winding caliber, calendar movement 26-330 integrated weekly calendar based on 324 self-caliber wire which took years of development.

Have you chosen a watch model that suits you best?
