Dutch police fight drug crimes with fragrant perfumes

Xtacy Perfume is a fragrance specially made to prevent crime. Read the article for more details.

Xtacy bottles, a perfume with the same packaging as Chanel No. 5, have been circulated for police departments throughout the Netherlands. The idea is that consumers will approach their pop-up booths to smell the scent. Although it looks and sounds like a designer brand – it smells like the actual MDMA.

A new idea encourages people to fight crime together

Despite the Dutch police’s best efforts to limit drug production and traffic, the Netherlands is still considered the world’s MDMA production capital.

Its purpose is not to make masses smelling like party drugs, but to educate and help fight ecstasy laboratories and ecstasy wastes. By providing perfume samples on the street, OM and the police are creating awareness and asking people to report signals from laboratories or landfills nationwide. The most obvious message is the aroma of MDMA.

They did not sell it. They provided samples to the public, letting them familiarize themselves with the smell of the medicine so that when they happened to pass by an illegal drug laboratory, they could inform the authorities.

Dutch public prosecutor Antoinette Doedens made a statement along with the initiative – the smell is the most crucial way that people can recognize an ecstasy laboratory. That’s why we want to spread the scent across the country, so people know what to pay attention to.

With the production of ecstasy and other synthetic drugs, there is always the risk of toxicity and gas, fire, or explosion, especially at the amateur level. Hazardous waste is also a huge problem, which can affect the health of humans, animals, and plants.

Xtacy perfume is currently being distributed to police stations throughout the Netherlands, and police will be tasked with introducing it to the public. Only time will tell whether this ingenious technique helps to destroy many drug labs, but you must give them credit for thinking outside the box.

Traffic Xtacy is said to be worth between 3 and 5 billion euros for drug gangs in the Netherlands.

Stay tuned to see if this idea has achieved any positive results.
