Every day we are diligently nourishing our skin to avoid the nasty acne.  But you may not know yet on the list of skin diseases, there is one more dangerous than hidden acne or inflammatory acne.  That is Fungal Acne.  If you are a teen who devotes your youth to treat acne on the forehead, back and chest but can not cure it completly, you most likely have folliculitis - Fungal Acne.

So what is Fungal Acne? What to do for treating Fungal Acne, wha are products for treating fungal acne face?

Let's find out helpful tips at below for treating fungal acne face effectively.

I. What is Fungal Acne?

The Fungal Acne is a form of folliculitis caused by two fungi Trichophyton rubrum or Malassezia folliculitis (Pityrosporum folliculitis).  The fungal acne does not appear to be acne-like in nature, and it is not listed as acne.

If the acne is caused by bacteria, the main cause of folliculitis is fungus.  In fact, fungi are always available on our skin, but when the weather changes, the proper skin care regime, fungus will grow, causing dermatitis with the appearance of red bumps shaped like pustules, pustules.

The Fungal Acne is very dangerous because they can spread very quickly to other skin areas.  The degree of spread is even more frightening than hidden acne because the degree of replication of the fungus is very strong, especially can be spread from person to person.  Folliculitis causes bruising and scarring after it has gone away and has a very high risk of recurrence.  Therefore, you should be promptly treating fungal acne face if you do not want to suffer from long-term folliculitis.

II. What is the cause of folliculitis - Fungal Acne?

As mentioned above, the main cause of folliculitis - Fungal Acne is the growth of fungi on the surface of the skin.  The fungus thrives in hot, humid conditions and areas where the skin sweat frequently.  Therefore, you are susceptible to folliculitis during the summer, intense heat.  In addition, those who are active, exercising "sweaty" are susceptible to folliculitis.  People who are obese, have diabetes or have an immune disorder are also susceptible to this Fungal Acne disease.

A humid, oily, dusty, sweaty environment is a warm home of fungi, so if you belong to the following bullet points, you understand why Fungal Acne appears:

- Wearing too tight clothing makes it hard to breathe, causing sweating.

- Do not change clothes and take baths after exercising.

- Skin with seborrhea.

- Use non-emulsifying heavy oil products (such as coconut oil, virgin olive oil).

- Anxiety disorder, stress and fatigue due to stress.

- Use birth control pills.

III. Manifestations of folliculitis - Fungal Acne

Although there are no obvious symptoms, you can identify Fungal Acne through the following symptoms:

- Purulent, red spots appear on the back, shoulders and chest, and occasionally on the chin.

-  Patients feel itchy or burning due to Fungal Acne growth.

- When you apply anti-acne and antibacterial preparations such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid (BHA) without any reduction, it is very likely that fungal folliculitis.

In fact, you can get folliculitis - Fungal Acne from time to time on your face, especially on the chin, but very rarely, the folliculitis red spots appear on your face.

The facial skin is often better cleaned and we rarely have to "breath" with clothes, blankets, pillows.  This is also a fairly airy area, less affected by sweat and our habit is to wipe the sweat on the face before wiping the sweat on the body.  Therefore, the malassezia fungus usually does not have a chance to colonize the face, except for the forehead and around the hairline!

IV. The fungal acne vs bacterial acne - Beware of confusion!

The fungal acne vs bacterial acne have quite similar manifestations, so there are only cases where it took decades to cure acne but only later did we know we had folliculitis.  You have to distinguish clearly between fungal acne vs bacterial acne for treating fungal acne face effectively.

The cause of bacterial acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands that produces too much oil on the skin, clogging the pores, if not properly cleaned the excess oil and dust accumulate in the hair follicles.  This is a condition for acne bacteria (P. Acnes) to grow, causing acne.  In other words, the main cause of acne is bacteria.

On the other hand, Fungal Acne, although the symptoms are quite similar to whiteheads and inflammatory acne, but the main cause of Fungal Acne is fungus.  The acne bacteria are only spread on the same human body, but the fungus can be spread from person to person.

The Fungal Acne nodules are usually uniform in characteristics, approximately 1 mm in size, while bacterial acne has many different types with different characteristics.

Acne treatment preparations have antimicrobial properties, and are not effective against fungi.  So, do not confuse between fungal acne vs bacterial acne!

The Fungal Acne is caused by a yeast bacteria, so it should be treated with antifungal medications:

1. Ketoconazole 2%

This is an antifungal ingredient commonly found in over-the-counter dandruff shampoos (such as the Nizoral shampoo).  At the pharmacy, they asked the cream to treat the fungus Ketoconazole 2%.  The way to use this cream is to apply a thin layer of cream to the acne-prone skin and let it sit for about 5 minutes and then rinse it off (like using a mask).  Do so every night, in the range of 1 or 2 weeks, you will see a noticeable reduction in acne.

 2. Zinc Pyrithione 1% or Selenium Sulphide 2.5%

These are also 2 effective antifungal ingredients, but I find it a bit difficult to find in pharmacies.  Usage is the same as Ketoconazole.

3. Sulfur-containing products

Sulfur is not only effective in treating inflammatory types of acne, but also in treating and preventing Fungal Acne.  You can use Sulfur-containing cleansers like Kate Somerville Eradikate Daily Foaming Cleanser or Sulfur-based acne spots like Bye Bye Blemish.

 4. Oregano essential oil

Oregano oil (marjoram) is really the savior of a local prone to inflammation and acne. Orgeano has long been known as an extremely effective natural ingredient against bacteria, infections, and mildew.  Whenever there is a pimple, let's dab a little diluted Oregano essential oil on the pimple and the surrounding area is to make sure the acne goes flat.  But it should be noted that Oregano has a very strong antibacterial effect, so when used, diluting it will not cause skin stinging.

Some skin care ingredients you need to stay away from when suffering from Fungal Acne:

 - Nourishing oils, fatty acids (e.g. Lauric, Palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic acid, etc)

 - Fermented ingredients (Example: Galactomyces)

Some skin care ingredients should be added when suffering from Fungal Acne:

 - Pure honey / propolis

 - Green tea

 Salicylic Acid (BHA)

Another note is that you should not use high-nourishing skin care products as well as apply too many skincare products on your face because wet skin will stimulate the activity of yeast bacteria.

 Some other things to note:

 - Keep the skin cool because the high temperature will stimulate the growth of yeast bacteria.  Take care not to steam your face or take a sauna while you have a Fungal Acne.

 - Those who exercise or exercise vigorously need great attention because physical activity will heat up the body and produce a lot of sweat.  This is also the ideal environment for yeast bacteria to grow.

VI. Prevent folliculitis - Fungal Acne

The Fungal Acne is easy to grow, especially in hot and humid conditions all year round.  However, teens can completely limit the growth of Fungal Acne with the following habits:

- Wear breathable, cotton-absorbent clothing that absorbs sweat.  Do not wear clothes that are too tight.

- Wipe off sweat quickly when you have heavy sweat, change clothes, take a shower after exercising.

- Wash clothes every day, especially hats, coats, and do not re-wear unwashed clothes.

- Regularly wash towels, sheets, and pillows to limit the growth of fungus.

For treating fungal acne face, you should:

-  Keep acne-prone skin airy, especially when wearing a hat or bangs

- Limit your use of lotion (except squalane).

-  Limit moisturizing too many layers, especially oil products

Folliculitis - Fungal Acne is an extremely common disease, but today there are still having confuse between fungal acne vs bacterial acne. After this article, you will have the right understanding about folliculitis - Fungal Acne and appropriate ways for treating fungal acne face. Wish you are always beautiful!
