Medical tourism in japan – problems and promotion

In fact, The Federal Ministry introduced a special visa called a Medical Resident Visa in 2011. It allows a tourist to stay in the country for health care reasons with a maximum stay of 6 months. So, it makes it easier for foreign patients to access and access medical care in Japan.

In addition, due to the increasing number of foreign patients, Japanese public and private health organizations are beginning to improve the quality of their healthcare services to international standards. Jiyugaoka Clinic, the largest cosmetic center in Tokyo, is one of such private organizations. In 2018, they served more than 1,200 wealthy Chinese tourists.

One of the main causes for medical tourism from China is that their health care is too poor. Public hospitals in big cities like Beijing are always overcrowded. As a result, doctors at Chinese public hospitals are constantly overworked, meeting up to 200 patients a day. Meanwhile, Japan has many good doctors, so wealthy chinese tourists come to Japan for improving access to quality hospitals and health services.

Japan has developed advanced cancer treatment techniques – including proton beam therapy, a type of radiation therapy to treat certain types of cancer. In addition, they also have accurate cancer screening tests, which have helped many patients around the world detect early cancer and receive timely treatment.

Japan ranks third out of 84 countries for the quality of health care delivery, health care costs and the quality of health care. So this country is considered to be among best place for health care in Asia.
