The signing is part of Alibabas Electronic World Trade Platform project, which together with Belgium is the first country to take part in this project. Besides Alibaba, Belgium has signed similar agreements with Malaysia and Rwanda.

Alibaba spends large sums of money to lease 220,000 square meters of space at the Liege airport in Belgium for cargo handling. Alibaba also invested 75 million euros ($ 85 million) as agreed to start the project.

Alibabas CEO affirmed that the project will bring more potential benefits to European businesses. Businesses that partner with Alibaba promote the development of e-commerce across the globe and they have more opportunities to invest in the Chinese market.

This project is also highly valued when it comes to reducing the trade barriers to e-commerce. Tariffs will be reduced to speed up the completion of procedures. The project was launched to commemorate the organization of the WTO, which was launched to promote multinational trade and remove many trade barriers.

Trade in Europe is quite tense, Alibaba must make great efforts to complete this project. The group also spent a lot of time recruiting good salespeople from the United States. Creating employment opportunities in the US is unlikely to continue as the situation in the United States is becoming increasingly tense.

Alibaba also aims to build more e-commerce centers in many countries around the world.
