Air Protein is one of the new food trends which solves growing global food demands without the need for arable land.

Latest global trends in food nutrition and health

The Bay-Area based company just announced that their first air-based meat was created from elements found in the air we breathe. This meat is made with air-based protein and doesn’t require traditional land, water and weather during production. This is a new food revolution as air-based meat has been created for the first time in history.

Food made by transforming elements of the air into protein is projected to become more popular in the future. The process is using elements found in the air and combining them with water and mineral nutrients. Renewable energy and a probiotic production process are required to convert the elements into a nutrient-rich protein. This type of protein has the same amino acid profile as an animal protein. It is also packed with crucial B vitamins, which are often deficient in a vegan diet.

The need for sustainable food production trends

According to the United Nation Food and Agricultural Foundation (FAO), farmers will need to produce more food (by 70%) with only 5% land increase in order to meet the growing population of 10B people by 2050. New healthy food trends like air-based meat offers an elegant solution to that equation. The technology to produce the protein found in air-based meat was developed by Kiverdi. And it was inspired by closed loop carbon cycle concepts for long-journey space missions of NASA. Accordingly, protein can be made in days instead of months. In addition to that, it doesn’t depend on weather conditions or seasons,  just requires a tiny fraction of the land used in traditional meat production. The process is similar to making yogurt or beer.

The protein is produced using natural processes without any use of herbicides, pesticides, hormones or antibiotics. Therefore, it is completely healthy and safe for consumers.
